What is a pole saw?

How should I hold my pole saw?
For best balance when using a pole saw do not overreach. Always keep proper footing and balance. Practicing proper footing and balance ensures that you will have proper control of the tool in unexpected situations. Always hold the unit firmly with both hands; keep your left hand on the pole shaft and your right hand on the rear handle, so your body is to the left of the chain line. What safety precautions should be taken?
Only use pole saws for their intended purpose. Pole saws are great for pruning and trimming of hard-to-reach branches. Think about where the branch being cut may fall. As this is sometimes unpredictable, do not stand under the branch being cut. Try to keep the tree between yourself and the branch being trimmed (as a kind of shield from falling debris). Keep bystanders at least 50’ from the tree being worked-on. Always take your time. When removing long, heavy branches cut in stages, cutting off small sections to reduce the impact of any falling debris. Start with lower branches so debris can fall more easily and not get stuck, causing a future hazard.
How thick of a branch can I cut?
Pole saws are typically used on branches less than 6” in diameter.
Can the pole saw be used for hedges?
The pole saw would be capable of trimming hedges; however, a pole hedger would be more appropriate for the job and leave a cleaner look.
Can you remove the poles and use this as a chainsaw?
No. This unit cannot be converted to a chainsaw. However, some models allow you the ability to remove the middle extension pole to shorten the unit by a few feet.
Can I use my pole saw to trim items lower to the ground?
The pole saw is designed for high level hard to reach branches. It is not ergonomically suited for low cutting and extreme caution should be taken.

Easy to use pole saw

Purchase this a month ago to trim the mulberry limbs hanging over the fence. The tree was dropping it’s fruit then my dog was eating. Much happier now that the limbs are trimmed easily with this pole saw.

It does the job

I bought this to clean up branches to high for me to reach with a hand saw & ladder. Much safer. Easy to assemble. I like how I can break it down in length to fit in my vehicle. I use it to clean up branches on trails on my property. It's quiet smooth and with 60v battery has the power to get the big branches.

Poor customer service

Purchased this online. The box and the unit came damaged. 4 attempts to have the customer service resolve the issue with no outcome. Calls to them takes 90-120 min to reach an associate who are very nice but unable to assist as returns are handled by order fulfillment group. Multiple one way email exchanges. Purchased 2 other equipments from Costco - good products. But stay away from buying directly from Greenworks.

Better than expected!

I used my new pole saw on some oak hickory and other limbs. I was extremely pleased that the saw worked even better than I expected. The reach was good and the shoulder strap made it much easier to handle. The performance was great and I had no issues with cutting through the hardwoods.

Cuts through limbs easily

Superb equipment

Light weight easy maintenance/use battery life exceptional but Greenworks should improve the chain mechanism to ensure less chain issues. Though I tried several chain adjustments I spend too much time putting the chain back on then actually cutting tree limbs. I’m grateful for the fully electric aspect of the equipment however I’d like to see innovation on the chain mechanism.

Final solution

Got rid of my gas pole saw years ago but corded electric has limitations. This saw is the answer. It's comparatively light and balanced. And I'm completely free to go anywhere on my ten acres. I've even climbed a tree to get to dead branches. So easy to use. Awesome product.

Very Useful

The 10 60V pole saw was just my latest Greenworks purchase. I started with a leaf blower and then a string trimmer. All three items were purchased with a battery and charger and all three are 60V. I can now use any of the three and have two fully charged backup batteries.

A Cut Above the Rest - Pole Saw

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this pole saw is a cut above the rest. My wife got excited when she saw me pull it out of the box and it was 10 inches long. What a chain reaction she had! Wish she wanted to use it but she won't touch it even with a nine foot pole!

This Saw works great. I’ve used gas powered pole saw for several years and this saw provides comparable power without the noise and weight. I have 2amp and 5amp batteries - so far only used the 2amp battery and was impressed with the amount of power and run time. Only drawback so far is the reach. The 8’ length works well for trimming trees around the house but would like and additional 3-4’ for clearing tree stand shooting lanes. Will be looking into whether or not additional extensions can be purchased
