FAQs

Is it difficult to use snow shovel/thrower with an extension cord?
It does take time to get used to having a cord attach to your snow shovel, we suggest keeping the electric cord as close to the outlet as you can and then move away from the outlet, so the slack always stays on the side you are moving away from or put the cord over your shoulder. That way it is always behind you while using the snow shovel but over time it will get easier to manage.
Can I use my Snow Shovel on uneven pavement?
We do not recommend using this snow shovel on uneven or non-paved areas. It works best on smooth and flat surface areas. As the operator works along the uneven surface, the tool will need to be lifted to avoid contact. Contact to non-paved areas will damage the scraper faster the more the unit makes hard contact.
Does the Snow Shovel have a chute?
The Snow Shovel is not equipped with a chute; it is a light duty unit, perfect for light to moderate snow conditions. We suggest directing the snow in front or to either side by pushing the snow shovel forward so that it rides on the scraper. The direction of the snow is changed when the user turns the shovel.
Why won’t my snow shovel start?
The tool is equipped with a safety start up feature. The units will only start when the following sequence is done: 1.Verify that the battery pack is inserted into the battery compartment. 2.Press and hold the lock-out button 3.While holding the lock-out button, press and hold the trigger switch. Please note, the Snow Shovel will not start if the lock-out button is not held until the trigger switch is lifted. Once trigger is pressed and unit is started, release the lock-out button.
Can I use my Snow Shovel on stairs?
Snow shovels are an effective tool for clearing steps and decks with ease. They are lightweight, gasless, and easy to start, so almost anyone can operate them.

Do not buy it! Screeching! No fixing!

I used an earlier version, but I wanted one with a directional vane and a variable speed motor. I was happy with the new features. I ordered it in the summer, so I didn't use it until December. When I tried it out, I was immediately disappointed. The motor makes such a screeching noise that it's unbearable. The earlier version didn't scream! I called customer service, they asked a bunch of irrelevant questions, then asked for a video. I sent them one and they said the noise is normal for this equipment. So there's nothing they can do to fix it. I deeply regret buying this snow shovel and I highly recommend NOT buying it unless you are deaf or want to bother your neighbors. The long-awaited adjustable directional vain knob is also difficult to turn, sometimes requiring two hands, especially when the machine is already covered in snow. They advised me to use a lubricant spray. Dear customer service, the spray on the knob is a bad idea - it makes it even more slippery, and the spray on the vanes is useless, the snow rubs off it in half a minute. It would be more useful if they finally replaced the knob with a longer lever so that you can change direction with one hand without any problem. And of course, they should at least make it available for purchase to replace the bad knob. That would be customer service.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad the directional vane and variable speed motor were features you were looking forward to, and we are sorry to hear that your experience with the unit has been disappointing.
We understand that noise can be disruptive, particularly compared to earlier models. While brushless motors can produce a higher-pitched sound profile than previous designs, we recognize that sound levels are subjective and can affect overall satisfaction.
Your comments regarding the directional vane adjustment and knob design have been documented and shared with our product and engineering teams for review. Easy to shovel snow

It is very powerful but compact enough to fit in a tight area inside the garage. I have other products from Greenworks, all 80V, and I am happy with all of them. In total, I have four 80-volt batteries (three 2Ah and one 4Ah) with three charges. With them, I can continuously do whatever I am doing, lawing mown, shoveling snow, edge trimming, etc.

The Directional Vane is so helpful. It can be adjusted in three directions: 30 degrees to the left, 0 degrees (which shoots the snow forward, like in the clip I uploaded), and 30 degrees to the right.

Just be careful if you use it with a 4Ah battery. The handle becomes quite heavy, but it is still much lighter than shoveling the snow manually.

Highly recommended!

Great little beast, so powerful, and the directional vane is so useful, so happy with my purchase. highly recommended.
with the 2Ah battery it lasts about 20 min on full speed , driveway of 6 cars can be easily done with one full battery. a little bit on the heavy side, but much better than regular shoveling.

Major flaw

In many ways this snow shovel is a good product - it throws snow a good distance and could work well when there isn't enough snow for a full size snow blower. However, I'm giving it only one star because the scraper wore out in only a few uses. Obviously this was not designed to work without a wheel kit which would hold it off the ground. Both the replacement scraper and a wheel kit are sold out so now this tool which I've had less than two months is an expensive paperweight - useless at the time I need it most. I have several other Greenworks tools and have been happy with them but this is a huge disappointment.

Hi Daniel. Thank you for your review. Customer feedback is very important to us here at Greenworks. Some benefits of the plastic scraper include protecting delicate surfaces, quieter operation, glides over uneven surfaces, and especially non-marking. The scraper is considered a wearable item/part, and therefore it would need to be replaced accordingly, depending on the condition. More information can be found here: https://greenworkstoolv.com/pages/warranty. Currently, we do not have a restocking date available for the scraper or wheel kit. However, you can stay informed by selecting 'Notify Me When Available' on the product page and entering your contact information. You will receive an update as soon as the item is back in stock Should you require any troubleshooting or warranty assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us via chat on www.greenworkstoolv.com or call 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). We hope this information helped!

Disappointed

First of all, I bought it directly because of the snow control channels and the dual speed control. I have the previous version, which is sometimes too strong, it carries the snow to the neighbor's lot. I am very disappointed with this new machine. Although the speed control is very useful, the directional vanes' controller is very bad, especially when the snow is frozen on the machine. It should actually be a LEVER, not a rounded button with a very small cam. The design must be changed. BUT the biggest problem is the terrible screeching of the engine! What have you done? This is completely wrong! I am ashamed to use it because of the annoyance of the neighbors and because I can only use it with earplugs! There is no noise problem in the previous version, but this one is terrible. If I could, I would send this s..t back to you! I don't even understand how this can be put into series production! Maybe time run out on the release date, you had to rush and couldn't fix it? This is such a shame for the brand name! I have a blower and the earlier version of the snow shovel, dozen of battery, so I did not want to change the brand, but I already regret it.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience with the 80V snow shovel did not meet your expectations. We understand your concerns about the directional vane control and the noise level, and we appreciate your detailed input.
To address snow and ice buildup on the directional control knob, first safely clear any existing ice, and then apply a non-stick lubricant to help prevent future accumulation. We hope this tip helps.
We are concerned to hear about the excessive noise you described. This is not the experience we intend for our customers, and the level of noise you are reporting is not expected. We recommend contacting our customer success team so the unit can be evaluated. Our team can assist with troubleshooting and determine appropriate next steps. They can be reached via the online chat function on the Greenworks Tools page by clicking “Chat with an Expert” in the bottom corner of your screen, or by calling 1-888-909-6757.
When contacting our team, please have your unit, battery, charger, and the model and serial numbers available. This will help ensure troubleshooting is completed efficiently and a quick resolution is provided.
We appreciate your loyalty to Greenworks and your honest input, which helps us continue to refine our tools for all customers.

Love it

Easy to install, easy to use and love how quickly it removes the snow. I am 5.3 and a 110 pounds and there was no problems using this. Definitely recommend.
The only thing I would recommend is a brush attachment.

Not worth the hassle, avoid.

I just got this shovel in december 2024, owning it not quite a week and a half, its piled up already. Being the last display one at costco its probably been abused. They laughed when i asked to return it.Told me to contact greenworks as theyve returned a bunch of them so far. The battery lasts maybe 6-8 minutes, fully charged? something sounds like its grinding inside. I tried it on light snow then the directional knob fell off. Im seriously dissapointed in this product. Look elsewhere for snow shovels, no warranty!
